PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! The Yorkshire accent is the UK and Ireland's most 'encouraging' accent, according to a poll of favourite accents for different situations. And the study by Moneypenny found the Yorkshire accent was the best for providing customer service. The company, which provides telephone and online customer service staff, surveyed 1,000 UK office workers on the accents which best suited different customer service scenarios. Moneypenny said: "Although our accents are not something we can easily change or control, it’s ultimately a massive part of how we as people are perceived. It’s reported that visual cues are now second to accents in terms of how perceptions are created. "Our research revealed that 71% of UK adults agree that accents affect the message and the way it’s delivered.

The most encouraging accents were: Yorkshire and Geordie (9%) followed by Southern Irish (8%), Welsh (6%) and Northern Irish (5%). The best accent for providing customer service was Yorkshire (17%) followed by Geordie (16%), Southern Irish (16%), Edinburgh (15%) and Welsh (15%). The most 'motivating' was Geordie while the most 'calming' was Southern Irish which was also the preferred accent for delivering bad news. Respondents, however, believed having no discernable accent was the most motivating (37%), most encouraging (29%), the best for delivering bad news (39%) and the best for providing customer service (27%). Wendy Swash, Chief Operating Officer at Moneypenny said: “It is interesting to see the different opinions stemming from various regions of the British Isles. We were surprised to discover that people believed having no accent was best for delivering both bad news and providing customer service "Attitudes towards accents are bound to differ depending on region, however it was insightful to see the various emotions these accents evoked to varying degrees."
