PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Heavy snowfall and ice caused major issues across Kirklees today, with roads, schools and Covid-19 testing centres all forced to shut. Alternate heavy and light downfalls of snow have continued throughout the day, with more expected up until 7pm this evening. There has been havoc on the roads, with collisions seen across the borough and many abandoning their cars. Disruption to bus services in Huddersfield have also been reported, with one man telling YorkshireLive he was left stranded at the town's bus station "with over 100 people". Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will auto-play soon8Cancel Play now Covid-19 community testing centres for key workers in Batley, Dewsbury and Huddersfield have been closed since 2pm this afternoon, with the council saying it had made the decision due to the heavy snowfall. And this morning, close to 80 schools informed critical worker parents that they were closing for the day, with one citing "dangerous" roads as the main reason. Cars have been captured on camera struggling to navigate the tricky conditions, with one filmed careering out of control on Lockwood Scar, in Newsome, before smashing into another vehicle. On Windy Bank Lane, between Hartshead and Hightown, one car was spotted wedged on top of a wall after the driver lost control of the vehicle. In Huddersfield, there was traffic chaos as vehicles experienced issues in Meltham and on Huddersfield Road towards Netherton.

Some of the other roads known to have been affected in some capacity today include: A58 Halifax Road between A647 Haley Hill (Halifax) and A644 Denholme Gate Road (Hipperholme Crossroads, Hipperholme) A629 between M62 J24 (Ainley Top, Ainley Top) and Fitzwilliam Street (Huddersfield) A640 New Hey Road at M62 J23 (Huddersfield). Leeds Road in Birstall M62 Westbound from J31 A655 (Castleford) to J27 M621 (Gildersome) In Lindley, one eye witness told YorkshireLive that ambulances were struggling to get through to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary this morning as vehicles blocked Acre Street and New Hey Road. There was also traffic chaos on Soothill Lane, in Batley, as a stranded lorry led to the road becoming impassable. And Leeds Road in Birstall was described by one eye witness as "absolute carnage". He added that he had to abandon his car close to Gildersome roundabout after attempting to drive up the steep road in the direction of Morley. Despite the weather causing carnage on the borough's roads, crowds gathered at Clayton Fields, Huddersfield, with their children to enjoy the snow with some sledging fun.
