A Yorkshire coast mental health charity is in need of volunteers to help them deal with an explosion in the number of people waiting for support. Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Mind (SWRM) say that their waiting list for mental health support has doubled in the past 12 months, as successive lockdowns have impacted people’s mental health. North Yorkshire Police recently revealed a huge spike in mental-health related incidents over the pandemic year. SWRM Services Manager Catherine Mason said: “We do have a lot of people coming to us and that has increased since the start of the pandemic last year.
