PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Pipa is on the verge of leaving Huddersfield Town after Greek champions Olympiacos returned with an improved bid for the right-back. The 24 year old moved to the John Smith’s Stadium from Espanyol in summer 2020 for a fee believed to be in the region of half a million pounds and was a key player for Carlos Corberan throughout his first season at the club, but missed the first half of the most recent campaign with a groin injury. By the time Pipa returned in late December he found himself in a battle for a starting berth with Ollie Turton, a summer signing from Blackpool. As a result he started just six regular league games last season as the Terriers finished third in the table – but was selected for the second leg of the semi-final and the final in the play-offs after Turton went off injured in the first leg against Luton.

. Olympiacos’ interest emerged earlier this summer as they prepare to try and retain their Super League crown, which they won at a canter last season by topping the regular season table and then extending their lead at the top after the league split into two halves for the final third of the campaign. That means they have qualified for the second qualifying round for next season’s Champions League, where they will take on Israeli side Maccabi Haifa. If Pipa’s move were completed, Town would look set to start the season with Turton as first-choice right-back, with Sorba Thomas and Aaron Rowe both well-versed in playing wing-back and 18-year-old Northern Ireland international Brodie Spencer thought to have a bright future at full-back.
