PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! A man has been sentenced to 5 years in prison after he stabbed another man during a dispute which involved his girlfriend and £25. Reardon Cronin, 21, from Lowedges Road in Sheffield, was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months in jail with a further two years on extended licence on Monday. He pleaded guilty to the charge of stabbing Steven Slezak, 47, with intent to cause bodily harm as well as possession of a bladed article in Lawnswood Crescent, Lincoln. Lincoln Crown Court heard Mr Slezak, Mr Cronin and his girlfriend Hollie Adams were drinking vodka at a property in the Birchwood area of Lincoln. Prosecutor Philip House told the court on March 24 Ms Adams had shown Mr Slezak her bruised legs who believed they were caused by Mr Cronin, LincolnshireLive reports. He was stabbed in the face, elbow and in the hand twice. Witnesses chased Cronin who, according to Mr House, told them: "I only done it because he robbed £25 off my girlfriend." A victim statement from Mr Slezak said: "This has changed my life. Over what? Over a girl." The statement also said Cronin "shouldn't be allowed on the streets." Cronin's defence, Mr Neil Sands, admitted the defendant "has a record that is no doubt troubling to the court." Part of this past record was the assault of a PE teacher and HMP Doncaster after he was told to return to his room.

. Mr Sands read it out, saying: "I know what I have done is wrong. I can't imagine how Steven feels about what happened. I would not wish it upon anyone. "It's horrible what I have done." It continued to apologise to Mr Slezak and his family. Judge Pini QC listed his previous convictions which added to his sentence as he satisfied criteria which meant he was a danger to the wider public. Judge Pini QC said: "If he carries on like this he is going to end up killing someone." As Mr Cronin looked back before being led out of the dock, Ms Adams shouted "I love you". Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Inspector Remy Simon said: “This was a particularly nasty assault which resulted in serious injuries which have had a profound effect on the victim, both physically and mentally. The response of our officers was swift and meant that we quickly identified a suspect and made an arrest. "This was a thorough investigation with several lines of enquiry and involved forensics experts, response officers, and investigators from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Thanks to their hard work we are able to see justice served in this case.” Read Next: 'Untouchable' Huddersfield balaclava biker caught on video 'intimidating and abusing' terrified driver Terence Papworth 'scratched her initial on his groin' ahead of trial for killing Yorkshire mum Get the latest Yorkshire Live news with our email newsletters Read More Related Articles 200 criminals on the run in Huddersfield and Kirklees caught Read More Related Articles The evil rapists and paedophiles locked up in Yorkshire's 'Monster Mansion' prison
