Boris Johnson has unveiled his plan for easing lockdown restrictions in England, starting with pupils returning to school from March 8 at the beginning of this timescale and all legal limits on social contact being lifted at some point June. The Prime Minister made the highly anticipated announcement in the House of Commons this afternoon after days of speculation as to what measures would be lifted and when. In a sign that Mr Johnson wants to be cautious, the easing of restrictions will happen in four stages. Here YorkshireLive takes you through them. Follow live updates as they come in with our live blog here Step 1 March 8 All students will return to schools and colleges and wraparound childcare such as after schools clubs and school sports will be able to resume. One person will also be allowed to meet another person from another household outside for recreational purposes, such to chat over coffee or have a picnic - from this date. Currently this is only permitted when both people are taking exercise. Care home residents will also be allowed to see one regular named visitor. From March 29 - 0utdoor gatherings of either six people or a larger group from up to two households will be allowed, including meetings in private gardens. - Outdoor sports facilities such tennis and basketball courts can reopen and both children and adults can take part in "formally organised" outdoor sports. -At around this point the Stay at Home order will end and the government will instead move to a message of encouraging people to stay local wherever they can. - People will still be asked to work from home wherever possible and overseas travel will not be allowed apart from exemptions Read More Related Articles Thug punched Huddersfield Verve doorman after being barred and ruined his life Read More Related Articles The number of rough sleepers in Sheffield shot up despite government's emergency accommodation STEP 2 No earlier than April 12 - Non-essential shops allowed to reopen - Personal care premises - hairdressers and nail salons will be allowed to reopen for business. If you are visiting either of these premises, you must go alone or with members of your household only. - Public buildings - libraries and museums allowed to reopen - Most outdoor attractions and settings also reopen including hospitality, zoos and theme parks. Wider social contact rules will apply in all these settings.

Find out the Covid-19 rates in the area you live - Indoor leisure, such as gyms and swimming pools, will also reopen but only for people going on their own or with own household - Hospitality will be allowed to reopen but for outdoors purposes only such as outside table service and pub gardens only. There will be no need to order a "substantial" meal with alcohol as was the case previously, and there will be no curfews. Customers will, however, have to be seated when they order food or drink - Self contained accommodation, such as campsites and holiday lets and where indoor facilities are not shared with other households, can also reopen - Funerals can continue with up to 30 people - The number limit for wedding receptions and commemorative events rises from six to 15 STEP 3 No earlier than May 17 - Most social contact outdoors will be lifted, including the two household/ rule of 6 requirements, but gatherings of over 30 people in a park/garden will remain outlawed. -Indoor mixing will be allowed again under the rule of six or a larger group from up to two households. This will, however, be kept under review to see if safe to go further. Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will auto-play soon8Cancel Play now - Inside of pubs and restaurants can open at this point along with entertainment such as cinemas, children’s play areas, accommodation (hotels and B&Bs) and indoor adult sports groups and exercise classes. - Larger performances and sporting events in indoor events with capacity of 1,000 or half full (whichever smaller) will be allowed. Outdoors, a capacity of 4,000 people will be allowed, or half full, whichever is smaller. For the largest outdoor seated venues such as football stadiums like Wembley, up to 10,000 people will be able to attend - or a quarter full, whichever is lower. -Up to 30 people able to attend weddings, receptions and wakes as well as funerals and other life events permitted including Bar Mitzvahs and christenings. STEP 4 No earlier than June 21 - The government hopes all the legal limits on social contact can be removed and it hopes to reopen those final closed sectors of the economy, some of which didn’t open last summer, including nightclubs. It also hopes to lift restrictions on large events and performances that applied in previous step. - At this point the government will also hope to make a decision to whether all limits applying to weddings and other live events can be removed.
