PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Erik Alonso, a former advisor to Sheffield Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri, is closing in on a takeover of Derby County. Spanish businessman Alonso, who owns the management company WBD Sports, is looking to take control of the Rams on behalf of his company No Limits Sports LTD. Derby have today issued a statement confirming a deal has been agreed with No Limits Sports LTD, subject to English Football League approval. A Rams statement read: "Derby County Football Club wishes to confirm that a definitive agreement to purchase the club has been reached with No Limits Sports Limited. The transaction, which is still subject to the EFL’s Owners and Directors Test approval, is expected to close in the near future. "As agreed with No Limits Sports there will be no further comment until the transaction is complete. This is to ensure that all of the club’s focus will be on the Championship run-in." Alonso has said No Limits Sports is proud and delighted to have reached an agreement and is "looking forward to working with Wayne Rooney and his team, and will do everything possible to support the club’s vision and ambition". In a statement, Alonso said: "We are proud and delighted to announce No Limits Sports Limited have approached the EFL for approval to be the new owners of Derby County Football Club, following agreement with the club’s current owner Mel Morris. "We are privileged to take ownership of one of the founding members of the Football League and to build a fresh future for the fans, staff and players of Derby County. "It has undoubtedly been a difficult period both on and off the pitch for the club over the last two seasons and we recognise that all of the staff have been dedicated and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the club’s First Team and Academy football operations were fulfilled. I have talked with him for more than a year but he didn't bring any sponsors. "A couple of months ago, he came to talk about players and the manager. I said 'no problem, you can put your suggestion' the same as other people who sent to us.
