A dramatic video taken at the scene of a huge fire in Huddersfield has shown the extent of the blaze which engulfed a building on a major road in the town on Friday night. West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) descended on Lockwood Road after a blaze broke out in a building opposite JD Gyms and Grosvenor Casinos. The fire was reported at around 10.08pm and worried members of the public gathered in the street as crews battled the flames. A large section of Lockwood Road was blocked at the junction with St Thomas' Road as at least six crews from Huddersfield, Rastrick, Meltham and Slaithwaite dealt with the blaze. A dramatic video from the scene, uploaded to the Flywithme YouTube channel, has shown firefighters being hoisted to the top of the building to tackle the flames.

. Five large jets, two hose reels and two aerial appliances used. Due to nature of calls two further appliances and one aerial were mobilised by control prior to arrival of first appliances. "Appliances attended from: Huddersfield x two, Rastrick, Meltham, Slaithwaite, Huddersfield and Bradford aerial with support from Mirfield, Featherstone command unit with assistants from Hunslet, Skelmanthorpe welfare unit."
