Eight areas of Yorkshire have seen their infection rates rise according to the latest figures as almost 900 new cases of coronavirus were recorded. The latest data published on the government website shows 899 people in Yorkshire have tested positive for Covid-19 over the last 24 hours. Tragically another 29 people, who tested positive for Covid-19, in Yorkshire's hospitals have died. It comes as residents in Yorkshire are gearing up for the gradual easing of lockdown after Boris Johnson's announcement on Monday. This means that 335,122 people in the region have tested positive for the virus since the start of the pandemic. The highest daily figure was seen in Bradford with another 144 cases. This was followed by Leeds with another 143. York recorded the lowest number of new infections. The latest fatalities bring the regions death toll to 7,394. Across England a further 372 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 81,854. Patients were aged between 28 and 99 years old. All except 16 (aged 44 to 99 years old) had known underlying health conditions. Date of death ranges from 9 December 2020 to 22 February 2021 with the majority being on or after 14 February. Their families have been informed.
