PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! The 65th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is set to kick off on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, after it was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. It will be the fifth time the country has hosted the contest following wins in 1958, 1970, 1976 and 1980. It will take place at the Ahoy arena in Rotterdam. Thirty-nine countries are competing this year, including Bulgaria and Ukraine, who are both returning. However, Armenia, Belarus, Hungary and Montenegro are out and will not put forward an entrant for this year’s competition. As part of the ‘Big Five’, the UK will automatically progress to the grand finale on Saturday, May 22, 2021, but who is representing the country? Who is James Newman? Born in Settle, North Yorkshire, the challenge this year falls to 35-year-old James Newman, brother of chart-topping singer John Newman. Aside from Eurovision, he has penned several of his own hits. He co-wrote the Number 1 smash hit ‘Waiting All Night’, sung by Rudimental and Ella Eyre, where he later scooped a BRIT Award for the track. Alongside his brother, he then co-penned ‘Blame’, which also featured Calvin Harris, that later went to Number 1 in the UK. What will James Newman sing at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021? At this year’s Eurovision, Newman will sing ‘Embers’, an original song he co-wrote himself. He was due to sing ‘My Last Breath’ at the 2020 contest, but that was shelved after rules issued by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) forbade acts from choosing the same song twice. The singer spoke of his elation and happiness at being chosen again in an interview with YorkshireLive earlier this year.

. I haven’t stopped making new music in lockdown.” Who is going to be doing the UK's commentary for Eurovision this year? Newman is not the only person from the UK who’s been chosen again, as Graham Norton has once more been put forward to commentate the event for the BBC. Fans have lauded the presenter’s witty remarks over the years and it’s likely they will again this year. Who will read out the UK Eurovision scores? Norton will be joined by Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, who will be reading out the scores from the UK public. In previous years, that job has been taken up by stars including former X Factor contestant Rylan Clarke-Neal and TV cook Nigella Lawson. The event has undergone changes this year following the Covid-19 pandemic. Bosses at the EBU have been mulling over several different scenarios for the contest, including a remote one. Instead, however, they have agreed on what’s been termed ‘Scenario B’. It means when the contest takes place from the Rotterdam Ahoy, stars will be socially distanced with a reduced audience. It’s hoped that way they can keep the disruption to the event to a minimum while making sure everyone is safe.
