PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! The Premier League will continue to be shown on three different channels for the next three years after an unchanged renewal of the previous arrangement was agreed by all parties.TV rights are ordinarily put out to tender in fair and open bidding process due to UK competition laws, but the Premier League has been granted an extension in principle by the Government effectively to do the same deal as has been running since 2019.i understands that both major broadcasters Sky and BT had expected a significant drop in value from the £4.5bn reportedly paid overall for the domestic rights, which in itself had gone down £600m from the record-high deal announced in 2015. Both companies have shown a willingness to move away from extended bidding wars over TV rights in recent years.

.However, this new deal for the Premier League has been well-received in central government, where concern had previously been expressed over football’s safe-guarding of the future of clubs outside the top flight, a worry brought into sharp focus by the pandemic. In addition to the £140m legacy payments already made to the pyramid, Government approval was only granted to the new deal on the basis that an additional £100m be made available over the next four years to support “areas of the football community particularly vulnerable to the impacts of Covid-19”.More to follow.
