PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Covid jabs firm Moderna is opening the first ever factory making mRNA vaccines in the UK, the Government has announced. The company will make the next generation of coronavirus jabs, protecting against multiple variants, as well as new vaccines against illnesses such as flu.Health Secretary Sajid Javid has been negotiating with the US-based firm for months to ensure that Britain would for the first time gain access to home-grown mRNA technology which could one day be used to treat cancer and heart disease. All previous mRNA jabs from Moderna and Pfizer used in the UK have had to be imported from continental Europe or elsewhere.A new innovation and technology centre, carrying out research into mRNA, and manufacturing centre which will make the vaccines will be opened by 2025, although their precise location has not yet been confirmed. The Government is hoping to make Britain’s medical supply chains more secure in the event of another Covid-style crisis. Clinical trials on future versions of Covid jabs and other promising vaccines made by Moderna will also be carried out in the UK.Boris Johnson said: “We are bringing supercharged, home-grown vaccines right to our shores.
