Head to the App Store and never miss a beat in Lanarkshire - iOS - Android Following the crushing announcement, this week the House of Commons published information on the impact of the cost of living crisis for households across the UK. It made stark reading suggesting that the annual rate of inflation is as high as it has ever been since 1982 which is significantly affecting the affordability of goods and services for households, underpinned by strong demand and availability bottlenecks. The House of Commons report indicated that another important driver of inflation is energy prices, with household tariffs increasing and petrol costs going up. The brewery kept things in the family, with Douglas, Craig, Ross and Ben Buchanan all part of it From June 2021 to June 2022, domestic gas prices increased by 95 per cent and domestic electricity prices by 54 per cent. This was due in part to pandemic restrictions being lifted, global demand and lower than normal production as well as the military and humanitarian impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The latest Cornwall Insight forecast is that the energy price cap will increase by a further 65 per cent to around £3245 in October - a devastating blow for consumers including local businesses. Dr Cameron MP has written that to date there is little support to protect businesses such as Strathaven Ales reportedly hit by commodity price increases alongside energy inflation.
