PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! SCOTLAND’S Jonny Adam helped his Garage 59 team secure two pole positions and a podium finish in the first races of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup. Team-mate Alexander West had secured the Pro-Am pole in their Aston Martin Vantage for the first 60-minute race at Magny-Cours in France last weekend. The amateur driver ran well in the night-time contest but eventually had to yield to two cars before pitting and handing over to Adam. The Fife flyer pushed hard to regain the lead but had to settle for third place. Qualifying for Race 2 was a resounding success again for the No188 crew as Adam took 12th position overall and the Pro-Am pole. Adam had a busy opening stint but a podium position slipped from West’s grasp in the closing stages of the race when a safety car took away the advantage he held. After the pair finished fourth, the Scot concluded: “Overall, we’re happy with our qualifying performances at Magny-Cours. Now we need to work on our race pace. We were very unlucky in Race 2 not to have a better result.” Meanwhile, Scots drivers were very much caught up in the action in the opening round of the British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton in Hampshire. In the first race, Gordon Shedden was involved in a nasty accident but Rory Butcher managed to finish in fifth place in his Toyota Gazoo Racing UK Corolla.

. Butcher then crashed out after the restart but Dalkeith’s Aiden Moffat scored points as he finished eighth in his Laser Tools Racing Infiniti Q50. And in the final race, Shedden was involved in a thrilling tussle for a podium spot, just missing out in his Halfords Racing with Cataclean Honda Civic Type R. Lockerbie’s Gordie Mutch had a disappointing time in his Praga R1T as part of the Britcar Endurance Championship event at Snetterton. The 19-year-old and team-mate Abbie Eaton finish seventh in class in the first race before failing to finish in race two. She steered her Citroen Saxo VTR to 16th place in the first race but did not finish the second clash. This weekend sees Scots endurance aces in action in the European Le Mans Series at the 4 Hours of Red Bull Ring in Austria. Ryan Dalziel will compete for IDEC Sport in the LMP2 class, while Colin Noble will race with Nielsen Racing in LMP3 and Jonny Adam will be with GTE squad TF Sport. Meanwhile, reigning British GT Champion Sandy Mitchell has extended his partnership with Tunnock’s – with the firm’s logo appearing prominently on his helmet, as well as his race suit and Lamborghini Huracan.
