This comes as heavy rain has caused river levels to rise and road closures to take effect. Despite heavy rainfall only being forecast for this morning (November 23), previous downpours have caused problems up and down the county. Reports have come in of roads being waterlogged and flooding on farmlands. One area has been issued with the most severe flood warning, meaning there is an immediate threat with possible damage to property. Several others have less severe flood alerts, which indicates possible flooding in the area. River levels are starting to fall, but remain high at the Hamerton river gauge following recent rainfall. Light rainfall is forecast today (November 23) and river levels may rise again in response to this. Flooding is still possible along the Alconbury Brook at Hamerton, The Alconbury's, Little Stukley and Brampton. Avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers.
