These potential changes will be the latest in a long line of new driving regulations that have been introduced this year. The highway code saw major changes back in January with a series of laws that gave pedestrians priority at junctions and put stricter regulations on cyclists. Further updates were made on July 27 which imposed tougher penalties on those who cause death through dangerous driving or driving under the influence. Now, The Express reports that even more laws are potentially about to come into effect. Members of the public are urged to keep on top of these changes. This controversial move is also being adopted by several towns in Oxfordshire and could spread further in England. Conservative shadow minister for transport, Natasha Asghar, stated her party was against the decision. She said: "The Welsh Conservatives are not against introducing 20mph speed limits outside schools, playgrounds, places of worship and high streets, but a blanket rollout is quite frankly ludicrous." London Ultra Low Emission Zone The results for Transport for London's consultation, on whether the ULEZ ought to be expanded, will be released this month, featuring the opinions of Londoners. The zone is set to be expanded to the entire capital on 29 August 2023.

After initially being introduced on 20 July, it is now possible for healthcare professionals other than doctors to complete medical questionnaires for driving license applications. The Department of Transport previously published plans for a "self-driving revolution" in April. The plans confirmed intended changes to the Highway Code regarding self-driving cars.
