PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! As its public consultation comes to a close, the controversial Ravenscraig freight hub proposal is set to become a major focus of the upcoming election. Scottish Labour’s candidate for the Motherwell & Wishaw constituency, Martine Nolan, has sent to a letter to all the MSP candidates urging them to join her in objecting to the plans. Martine, a safety and environmental engineer, wants to see more jobs and infrastructure in particular in green industry, but insists that in this case the proposals come at the expense of people’s health and safety and displacing existing jobs. The monstrous plan would change the character of the area forever. “Their plans include 800 HGV lorry movements past residential homes every day; breaking promises of a new, safe and sustainable community for local families; displacing existing North Lanarkshire jobs and competing against existing rail freight sites; noise, light and air pollution, not to mention commercial vehicles resting up on local streets and years of construction from 8am to 7pm. “It doesn’t have to be that way. Since the launch of the planning consultation over 340 objections have been made in less than a week. “We demand local voices are heard and this proposal is rejected by councillors and our objections are formally recorded.” Get the latest Lanarkshire news straight to your inbox!
