Their crimes ranged from drug offences to dangerous driving with their jail time spanning from 15 months to sixteen years. One man was jailed for attacking two people with a knife, causing one to lose his hand and forearm to amputation. Another two were locked up for trying to evade arrest by jumping out of a window. With sentences now handed out, we have listed the high profile cases from this week below: Read more: Crime news from across Cambridgeshire Cannabis growers jumped through window Chovan Ceo and Lan Thi Nguyen (Image: Cambridgeshire Constabulary) Chovan Ceo and Lan Thi Nguyen were growing cannabis at a house in Cambridgeshire and tried to evade arrest by jumping through a window and hiding in the loft. Members of the public alerted police in January about concerns that cannabis was being grown illegally in a property in London Road, St Ives. Inside the house officers found more than 300 cannabis plants with a street value of up to £500,000. They appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday (June 10) where they were both sentenced to two years and three months in prison after pleading guilty to production of cannabis. Hands free phone driver jailed *Police have not released a photo of Hughes Lauren Hughes, 27, has been jailed after hitting and killing a cyclist, Michael Roff, while making a hands-free phone call. Hughes said she did not see Roff on his bicycle as she drove her car along the A603 Barton Road on the evening of July 31, 2020. He suffered head injuries in the crash and died five hours later.

Peterborough stabbing Isaac Isa-Herd (Image: Cambridgeshire Constabulary) Isaac Isa-Herd, 24, stabbed a stranger in the neck in Peterborough city centre, leaving him with life-changing injuries last July and has now been jailed. Isa-Herd punched a woman in her face, before being punched back and running from the scene down the alleyway next to Red Room nightclub. He pulled out a knife and lunged at another woman, cutting her upper arm and swiping towards her throat. A friend of the woman, a man in his 20s, tried to intervene, but was stabbed in the neck. His lower forearm and hand had to be amputated. Isa-Herd was sentenced to 16 years in prison on June 14, with a four-year extended licence upon release. You can read the full story here. A search of his home in Chapel Lane also uncovered £550 of cocaine, £380 of heroin, a small amount of ketamine, various “cutting” agents and other drugs paraphernalia and “burner” phones. He has now been jailed for a total of three years and four months in prison at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday, 10 June.
