Cleaning Britain's Greatest Treasures, narrated by Sheridan Smith, will explore the process in its latest episode due to air on Sunday (August 7). The Embarkation of George IV from Whitehall, John Constable's largest painting, is on public display for the first time at the historic site. The work has been painstakingly restored by National Trust conservators, revealing a long-vanished River Thames skyline view. The episode, titled Constable Six Footer, will go behind the scenes at the Royal Oak Foundation Conservation Studio in Kent. This is where over 200 hours was spent conserving the painting and transforming its appearance to what it is now.
