The Neighbours icon has quit the show on doctors' orders following a back injury. The singer and actor, 52, has taken the advice of the show’s medical team to pull out of the ITV celeb skating contest which has been blighted by injury and illness this series. Jason, who shot to fame in the 1980s playing Scott Robinson in the Australian soap Neighbours, had been resting for the past week due to back pain. He announced on his official Facebook page: "Guys I am devastated to announce that due to this ongoing back issue that occurred on Dancing On Ice about 10 days ago and at the advice of the medical team in the show that unfortunately I can't continue in the competition and therefore have to withdraw. "It's a nightmare and I'm completely gutted." He added: "We put so much work in to getting to this point but I have to respect my health and I have to respect my body moving forward and that is my biggest priority. Jason, who competed in Strictly Come Dancing in 2011, also thanked the show's professional skaters "who do such a great job with us all", he said. Hamish Gaman, who was partnered with Coronation Street star Faye Brookes, snapped a tendon while putting on a sock in an injury sustained off the ice. The pro ice dancer has had to withdraw from the contest to allow his injury to fully heal. Faye, from Flixton, will now continue in the competition with Matt Evers as her pro-skater partner.
