A coronavirus vaccination centre is set to open in Horwich next week - meaning patients from every part of Bolton will have access to a local site. There are now nine vaccination centres within the borough, following the confirmation of the newest site at Horwich RMI, in Ramsbottom Road. Vaccinations are due to take place at the site from next week, with invitations being sent out to patients over the age of 80 from local GP practices - Kildonan House Surgery and Pike View Medical Centre. Senior Responsible Officer for the Covid-19 Vaccination Programme in Bolton, and Clinical Director of Commissioning at Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Dr Helen Wall said: "With another site confirmed, we are making great progress with vaccinating our over 80s. "Everyone is working extremely hard to ensure we vaccinate people in a safe and efficient way." Local vaccination sites such as the one at Horwich RMI will operate alongside regional vaccination centres like the Tennis and Football Centre at the Etihad Campus in Manchester, pharmacy-led vaccination services, hospital hubs and in care homes. The regional vaccination centres have been introduced by NHS England as an additional option for people who may not have yet received their invitation to attend a local venue.
