PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Edwin van der Sar has named Manchester United among the only two clubs he will work for, as he confirmed he was approached about a possible role at the club "a couple of years ago". Van der Sar was frequently tipped to arrive as United's inaugural director of football before John Murtough and Darren Fletcher were appointed as the club's football director and technical director respectively earlier this year. And following the news that United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is standing down in 2021, Van der Sar has been mentioned as a possible candidate to replace him. Van der Sar currently operates in a similar role for Ajax as their CEO but said he has had no contact from United over the possibility of him replacing Woodward. The Dutchman, who was United's goalkeeper for six years between 2005 and 2011, said speculation surrounding his future doesn't affect him. "It's nothing new for me, my name circulates there for a long time," he told ESPN Netherlands. Van der Sar said he would like to finish at Ajax in "a perfect way" as he said could only ever see himself working for Ajax or United in the future. Van der Sar said: "[With] the work and pressure, you should have a feeling with the club. I could do the things Ronald de Boer is doing - he works for us at Ajax and also here for you guys [ESPN].

. "The pressure is different and I won't work at a club where I don't have a feeling. I could only do this for Ajax or United. I would not work for any other clubs. I am really happy with how we have [developed] Ajax in the last couple of years. We had ambitions 10 years ago to reach the top of Europe. We have reached that. We had to work really hard, we don't have a rich owner and the government didn't help us."
