This afternoon, Boris Johnson confirmed that barbers, hairdressers and nail salons in England will be allowed to reopen from April 12 at the earliest. These all fall under part two of the roadmap, and will not open before April 12. Wider social contact rules will apply in all of these settings, meaning people will only be allowed to visit on their own or with members of their own households. Also opening from April 12, and falling under step 2, are gyms, non-essential shops and outdoor attractions like theme parks and zoos. From March 29, outdoor sports facilities - tennis and basketball courts - can reopen and people take part in “formally organised” outdoor sports, both children and adults. Ultimately it aims to scrap all legal limitations to social mixing in the summer, although no earlier than June 21. Each staging post in the process will be spaced five weeks apart - a month so ministers can study the impact of the last stage and a week so people have time to prepare.
