Alan Shearer and Jermaine Jenas have both insisted Manchester United fans' protest against the Glazers "overstepped the mark" and was "unacceptable". Thousands of United supporters lined the streets outside Old Trafford to campaign against the club's ownership, forcing their match against Liverpool to be postponed. Fans twice broke into Old Trafford to remonstrate on the pitch, with flares and bottles allegedly thrown at police and Sky Sports staff inside the ground. Analysing the events of a dramatic afternoon in Manchester, both pundits supported the supporters' right to protest but felt they went too far. "I understand the fans' frustration and their anger," Shearer told Match of the Day 2.
