Despite the efforts of a local man who tried to save their lives, along with firefighters, two people died in a house fire in Camblesforth in Selby, North Yorkshire, the fire service has confirmed. One man managed to escape the property and is currently receiving medical treatment. Read More: Man dies after coming off bike in tragic crash The fire broke out at 5am this morning and North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue were called out along with West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Humberside teams. It took two-and-a-half hours to bring the fire under control and crews were still on scene damping down at 7.30am. A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue said: "Following this morning’s house fire in Camblesforth, a joint fire service and police investigation is underway. "Despite the efforts of firefighters and a local man to save their lives, two people sadly died at the scene. One man managed to escape the property and is currently receiving medical treatment.

. "Specialist teams from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue attended the incident to help with stabilisation of the property in order to assist the investigation process. "The incident occurred shortly after 5am this morning (19 June 2022) and crews from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue attended with assistance from Humberside Fire and Rescue and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue. "The fire was brought under control shortly before 7.30am and crews are still in attendance damping down and ensuring scene safety. "As part of the joint investigation to determine the cause of the fire, we are asking people to come forward with any information that could help the inquiry.
