PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! The Labour party has hit back after the Conservatives reported its West Yorkshire mayor candidate to the police for allegedly handing out brownies on the campaign trail - a potential breach of electoral law. The Conservatives have accused Tracy Brabin of "treating" by giving out Labour-branded brownies while out campaigning for the race, which takes place this Thursday. The Guido Fawkes news website reported that Ms Brabin had been reported to the police by the agent of Matthew Robinson, the Conservatives' candidate for West Yorkshire mayor. Images of the brownies were uploaded to social media by Kerron Cross, the Labour and Co-op candidate for Knottingley and Ferrybridge, who tweeted: "Loving the Vote Labour chocolate brownies we were given by ⁦ @TracyBrabin today. Whole family loved it. And yes, vote Labour kids." The post prompted some social media users to ask whether it was allowed under electoral law.

. This is now a matter for the police to investigate further. "Meanwhile I’m concentrating on speaking with residents of West Yorkshire and about my pledges for our boosting our regions economy, delivering more police on the beat and connecting our public transport system." However, a Labour source said Ms Brabin only gave out the brownies to Labour activists who were out campaigning, and they accused the Tories of "wasting police time". According to the Electoral Commission, which regulates party and election finance, a person is "guilty of treating if either before, during or after an election or referendum they directly or indirectly give or provide (or pay wholly or in part the expense of giving or providing) any food, drink, entertainment or provision in order to influence any voter to vote or refrain from voting". A Labour source said: "While Tracy has been talking to voters about her ambitious plans to sort out transport, back the police, create jobs and lead our recovery from the pandemic, it's telling that the Tories and Lib Dems have resorted to wasting police time complaining about what cakes she offers party members after a hard day's campaigning."
