PremierLeague-News.Com - Exclusive: The managerless Owls look set to make the 22-year-old their first January transfer window recruit as the club aim to move clear of the Championship relegation zone
PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Sheffield Wednesday are set to make free agent Andre Green their first signing of the January transfer window. Yorkshire Live can exclusively reveal that the managerless Owls are close to wrapping up a deal for the exciting winger. He is poised to undergo a medical within the next 24 hours. Green, a long-time target for Wednesday, has been searching for a new club since leaving Aston Villa last July. It is understood Green has been on the Owls' radar since the summer transfer window. Queens Park Rangers were also heavily linked with him. The 22-year-old, who progressed through the ranks at Villa Park, has spent a big chunk of his senior career out on loan with the likes of Portsmouth, Preston North End and Charlton Athletic. Green made nine starts and five substitute appearances for the Addicks in the second half of last season following a disappointing spell at Preston. He notched two league goals as Charlton failed to stave off the threat of relegation. His last competitive outing came as a second half sub in the Addicks 4-0 thumping at Leeds United back in July. Capped twice by England at Under-20 level, Green can operate on either flank. Barnsley, Luton Town and Brentford were recently credited with an interest in Green but Reds boss Valerien Ismael was quick to quash talk of adding him to their squad this month. Ismael said: "I know about the player; he is a good player. But as of now, he has a player who has not played for months now and it is difficult to integrate a player."

Izzy Brown loan recall: The truth on Sheffield Wednesday future amid Chelsea return rumours Earlier today, Wednesday confirmed that their next two scheduled Championship fixtures at Coventry City on Saturday and at home to Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday, January 19, have been postponed because of positive Covid-19 tests. The Owls reported cases last week and have now told the English Football League that their players are self-isolating to prevent further infection. New dates for the fixtures against the Sky Blues and Chairboys will be announced "in due course". The Owls, currently above the relegation zone in the second-tier on goal difference, are scheduled to return to action against Everton in the FA Cup next week.
