PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! A schoolboy from South Yorkshire died after being found in shallow water by police officers, an inquest has heard. Alex Dews died last month after he was found by police officers and taken to hospital. Assistant coroner Tanyka Rawden read out brief details of the circumstances as she opened and adjourned an inquest into Alex's death. She said Alex was 13 and a student from Barnsley. She said: "I am told by my officer that Alex was a 13-year-old female who identified as a male. He was born in Barnsley on November 7, 2008. He was taken to the Accident and Emergency Department at Barnsley hospital and then transferred to the children's hospital where he remained until he sadly passed away on 18 July 2022." Mrs Rawden adjourned the hearing. A full inquest is expected to open at a later date. She added: "I'd like to take this opportunity to offer to the family and friends of Alex my sincere condolences at this difficult time.

"At this time it is important to remind young people that all of us should seek help from others when we feel down or vulnerable, and that they should tell an adult if they are worried about a friend," said Mrs McQueen. She continued: "As a school community we will come together to remember Alex. I am in constant contact with Alex’s family and we will follow their wishes, but we will commemorate Alex in our very own Shafton way."
