PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! A homeless man who pitched a tent in front of Barclays Bank in Huddersfield town centre has spoken for the first time about how he was bowled over by the town's kindness. Dominic Sherwood, 48, whose tent attracted a huge amount of attention during the brief time it was erected in Market Place, said he was moved to tears by two 11-year-old girls who brought him cookies and cheer while their parents watched from a nearby car. He said: "It was a beautiful moment that will always stay with me. There has been plenty of other kindness shown me by strangers too - though I could have done without the drunk guy who almost dislocated my jaw with a punch one night. "I particularly appreciated the remains of someone's KFC bucket and many other gestures shown to me by the people of Huddersfield." Part of the reason that I didn't hide my homelessness from public gaze was to highlight the massive homeless problem that groups of souls are experiencing in the Kirklees area. "My tent was representative of a large number of people sleeping in the elements against their will and an even greater amount spending their friendship's goodwill living with friends and relatives on made up beds, sofas and floors. Kirklees Council has now temporarily housed me in Holme Park Court, Berry Brow, at a staggering cost to the tax payer of £201.97 per week for a studio property that the council describes as a one-bedroom flat. "I feel incredibly guilty that I am no longer waking up cuddling concrete but so many others still are."
