PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Having signed Harry Toffolo from Danny Cowley’s former club Lincoln City during the manager’s time at the John Smith's Stadium, perhaps it’s only natural that the Terriers would now start to see their players getting linked with Cowley’s Portsmouth. The only surprise is that it’s Toffolo again who has been connected, with the Huddersfield Town left-back the subject of speculation over the past couple of days, especially after news that Cowley is to be handed the keys when it comes to ins and outs at Fratton Park. Owner and former Disney CEO Michael Eisner is certainly not short of a few quid and if he wants to invest heavily in the squad would have the means to set about doing so. If he were to depart this summer, it would take a very substantial offer indeed: he still has a year left on his contract with a one-year extension clause triggerable by the club, and has performances have made him into one of Town’s most valuable assets. That is reflective of the other obvious issue here: as strong as his relationship with Cowley may be, Toffolo will surely be looking up, not down, whenever the time might come for him to move on. Portsmouth have one of the most talented managers (or managerial duo, rather) in the EFL and money to spend, and are sure to be an attractive prospect to plenty of players this summer. But respectfully to both Pompey and Town, when Toffolo next moves on he is surely ready for more than just another project club on its way up. His standout performances for Town, his incredible athleticism and his remarkable work ethic make clear he is ready to ply his trade at the very top of this division, if not even higher. Fans have noted his recently-announced change of agent with interest. That could mean something, it could mean nothing.

Download the app by clicking here For Toffolo to have successfully worked his way back up from League Two to be talked about as perhaps being ready for the Premier League is a testament to his character and constant desire for self-improvement. You need only listen to or read his interviews to see that how much he is plugged in to stats and performance data – not just his own, but that of his teammates too. In an ideal world, Toffolo will be a key player for Town again next season, just as he was for Carlos Corberan before missing two months with a back injury in the latter half of this campaign. Only four Championship full-backs outstripped Toffolo for assists (5) this season, and all of them played significantly more minutes than the usually-indestructible Town man. After Corberan’s side found chance creation difficult this campaign (and not just in the second half of the season, either), losing such an influential attacking threat would be a blow, and his transfer fee would need to be set at a level that reflects that. In that regard, Town hold all the aces on this situation. Nonetheless, while Portsmouth is unlikely to be the destination and we’re hopefully Toffolo will stay put, we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw plenty more transfer links emerging over the next three months.
