An inquest has opened into the deaths of two of the three men who died when a Ford Transit van collided with a Toyota Prius taxi on the M606 near Bradford. The head-on crash led to the deaths of the taxi driver, Sohail Ali, 28, from Bradford, and his passenger, Simon James McHugh, 49, from Huddersfield. Kyden Leadbeater, 18, a passenger in the Ford Transit, died at 7.15am the following day in Leeds General Infirmary, the inquest in Bradford was told today. He was identified to hospital staff by his mum, Ester Devlin. He was identified by his father, Ansur. Senior coroner Martin Fleming outlined brief details of the circumstances of the collision, which happened on Monday, June 13. He did not open the inquest into the death of Mr McHugh as the coroner's office had been unable to contact his family to make them aware it was taking place.

. Mr Fleming said a van had been travelling the wrong way on the southbound carriageway when it collided with a Toyota Prius, causing fatal injuries to Mr Ali and Mr McHugh. Mr Fleming said Kyden was one of three occupants of the van that had crashed with the Toyota Prius. "He very sadly passed away of the injuries he sustained," the Coroner said. Mr Fleming acknowledged that an independent investigation into the incident was being carried out by the Independent Office for Police Conduct. He suspended the inquests and requested the IOPC to provide him with an update before August 25. West Yorkshire Police has previously issued an appeal for witnesses to the collision to come forward. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw the Ford Transit van driving on Bradford Road in the vicinity of Moorlands Road, Birkenshaw, near Bradford, shortly before it was involved in a collision with the taxi at 10.45pm on the M606. On Tuesday police said that the 15-year-old driver of the Transit van remains in hospital and under arrest on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
