PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Cardiff City have reportedly made the first move in what could be a hotly contested pursuit for the signature of Josh Windass. The 27-year-old versatile forward has been linked with an exit from Hillsborough this summer regardless of whether the Owls win their Championship relegation fight with a last-day win over Derby County. The likes of West Bromwich Albion, Queens Park Rangers, Middlesbrough and Cardiff have also shown an interest in the player, with The 72. now reporting Cardiff have shown their hand by making the first approach to Wednesday. While a host of Owls players are out of contract this summer with large changes to the playing squad expected regardless of the division the club find themselves in, Windass is not one of those out of contract with just over a year remaining on his present deal.

. An unheralded signing at the time, Windass arrived from Wigan Athletic for around £500,000 last September and has been one of too few players to impress this season in a dismal campaign. Speaking only last week Barry Bannan made it clear how important he felt it was for the club to resist any offers and hold on to Windass. "He has helped us a lot this season and is a top player so it would be good if the club can keep him," said Bannan. "These are the type of players you need to keep hold of if you want to be successful."
