PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! England's top governing bodies have released a joint statement reiterating their commitment to ensuring the safety of all their players as COVID-19 cases continue to rise. With the UK in a national lockdown to control the virus, there have been concerns that English football could be suspended, just as it was for a three-month spell during the 2019/20 campaign. However, after talks this week, The Premier League, FA and EFL have all reiterated their belief that stringent measures will prevent such drastic measures being necessary, whilst maintaining the safety of all players and staff. "Safety is a collective effort and football requires the ongoing support of clubs, managers, players and all those involved in staging matches to continue to manage the spread of infection and set the right example to the public on and off the pitch. We will offer guidance, education and support as well as reviewing our practices to ensure they remain of the highest standard. "Our three organisations have confidence in our COVID-19 protocols and our ability to bring the season to a successful conclusion.

We have seen the huge contribution players have made to the national effort and they must continue to use their influence in demonstrating the importance of following the rules. "With full compliance to our COVID-19 protocols - alongside effective testing regimes - we are confident at the halfway point of the season that, with the support of all, the 2020/21 campaign will continue to its conclusion in May." The most recent round of testing revealed 36 individuals had tested positive and have been forced to self-isolate for ten days, a slight drop on the 40 cases registered in the previous batch. Five matches have been postponed so far this season due to COVID-19 while p layers have been told not to hug, shake hands or swap shirts to mitigate against the spread of the virus.
