PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Arsenal will be looking to overturn a one-goal deficit and progress to the final of the UEFA Europa League when they lock horns with Spanish outfit Villarreal in the second-leg of their semi-final showdown on Thursday evening. The Gunners, who got back to winning ways in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, defeating Newcastle United 2-0, found themselves 2-0 down inside the opening 30 minutes in Spain last week, as early goals from Manu Trigueros and Raul Albiol fired Unai Emery's side into a commanding lead. However, Arsenal, who reached the final of this competition two years ago, secured a vital away goal 17 minutes from the end when Nicolas Pepe stroked home a penalty, meaning a 1-0 win for the Gunners in the second-leg would see them progress to the final. The duo have struggled on the injury front in recent weeks, with Tierney missing the last seven matches with a knee injury, whilst Lacazette has been forced to miss the last three. Speaking about the duo on Sunday, Arteta said: "They haven't trained with us yet. So it's unlikely to have them ready in the next few games." However, the fact that they had not yet trained with the rest of the team now appears to be in the past, with the pair having participated in team training at London Colney on Tuesday. The duo were both pictured in the images released by the club, suggesting that they are making progress in their respective fitness battles. Whether or not they will be declared fit in time for the visit of Villarreal remains to be seen. Mari leads by example In matches like the one upcoming against Villarreal, it is down to those with wise heads on old shoulders to be the leaders and voices out on the pitch. That is exactly what Arteta will be looking for on Thursday evening, calling upon the more experienced figures within his squad to help those who are young and looking to prove a point. On Tuesday, centre-back Pablo Mari appeared to be offering some advice or assistance to Emile Smith Rowe, pointing to something and having a word with him. Smith Rowe, who has been one of the Gunners' best players this season, appeared to be listening closely to what Mari had to say, suggesting it could have been of great importance. . This season, the likes of Omar Rekik, Miguel Azeez and Folarin Balogun, have all trained with the first-team squad, as they look to try and make Arteta aware of their respective qualities. Now it appears as though 19-year-old goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo is the latest player to be handed the opportunity, as he once again featured in training on Tuesday. The Gunners academy graduate has been a regular fixture in the Gunners' most recent training sessions, suggesting that Arteta wants to have a good look at him ahead of this summer's transfer window, with signing a new goalkeeper understood to be on the Spaniard's to-do list.

However, he failed to make the squad, just as he did against Newcastle. Now, with another week's worth of training with the first-team under his belt, the USA-born striker will be determined to get a look in against Villarreal, especially if Lacazette is not deemed fit enough.

On Tuesday, Balogun worked on his strength by looking to hold off Rob Holding, presumably in a battle to get on the ball. Although he is only young, his stock is high, meaning he would love to make his mark and prove his worth in a game as significant as a Europa League semi-final.
