PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Chelsea are eyeing former Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards as the man to take the club's transfer business to the next level. According to a recent report from ESPN, the Blues have identified Edwards as the leading candidate to become the new sporting director at Stamford Bridge following Marina Granovskaia's departure. Edwards departed Liverpool at the end of the season after helping the club reach the top once again. The 49-year-old moved to Anfield from Tottenham in 2011 and played a key role in the club appointing Jurgen Klopp as their manager in 2015, as well as some key signings. Chelsea, who announced a major reshuffling of the club's board on Wednesday morning, will have Todd Boehly as the sporting director on an interim basis while the hunt for a new transfer guru goes on. Boehly can still call upon Granovskaia's expertise in a non-official role while the club look for their new long-term sporting director. READ MORE: Michael Edwards' stance on replacing Marina Granovskaia at Chelsea revealed amid Man Utd worry Edwards is very highly-rated in the industry but the understanding is that he wants a break from football, hence his departure from Liverpool at the end of last season. The aforementioned report, however, does state that a move to Chelsea would be of 'great appeal' to Edwards. So, with all of this being said, football.london takes a close look at five of Edwards' best signings (in no particular order) when at Liverpool. If he could repeat this sort of transfer business at Chelsea, then Blues supporters would be more than happy... Andy Robertson - £8m from Hull City The Reds paid Hull City just £8m for Robertson, who has gone on to become one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. The Scotland international perfectly suits Klopp's high-pressing system at Anfield. For just £8m, many thought Robertson would come in and be somewhat of a bit-part player at Liverpool. His performances since being on Merseyside, though, have made him virtually undroppable and a lot of credit for this has to go to Edwards. Sadio Mane - £35m from Southampton Many people were left rather surprised when Liverpool splashed £35m on Mane from Southampton.

. However, Mane, who has recently joined Bayern Munich, established himself as a Liverpool legend in his six years at the club. He scored 120 goals and provided 48 assists in 269 appearances for the Reds across those six years. Mohamed Salah - £35m from AS Roma In July 2017, Liverpool agreed a deal with AS Roma to bring Salah to Anfield for around £35m. The former Chelsea winger failed to make an impression during his one stint in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge, but would return to England with experience in Italy under his belt and a point to prove. He has certainly done that. Salah has scored over 15 Premier League goals in each of his five seasons at Anfield and has established himself as one of the best attacking players in world football. Another massive win from Edwards. Alisson Becker - £66.8m from AS Roma Another signing from Roma, this time a year later when Edwards played a big role in negotiations to sign Alisson. Liverpool were in desperate need of a world-class goalkeeper after the 'disasterclass' from Loris Karius in the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid. Alisson was identified as that man and the Brazil international has repaid the faith shown by Liverpool five years ago. The 29-year-old played a huge part in the Reds' Champions League win in 2018/19, in his first season with the club and in his second term in England, he helped Liverpool win their first Premier League title in 30 years. Virgil van Dijk - £75m from Southampton A few months before Alisson arrived on Merseyside, it was the £75m signing of Van Dijk that had everyone talking. Many football fans questioned the big-money fee for a centre-back, but there can be no questions raised more than four years on. Many now consider the Dutchman to be the best centre-back in world football, or certainly one of them. While it's not a 'bargain' like Robertson, the £75m spent by Liverpool and negotiated by Edwards was a statement signing. It's one that Chelsea supporters would love to see in the future.
