PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Arsenal duo Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli have been named in Brazil's 23-man squad for this summer's rearranged Olympic Games in Tokyo. The Games were set to be played last year but were forced to be pushed back a year, just like the UEFA European Championships, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. However, despite Japan not yet being out of the woods as far as the pandemic is concerned, the games are set to go ahead, allowing the world's greatest athletes to gather for a fortnight's worth of sporting action, drama and the unexpected. The event is penciled in to get underway on Friday, July 23, and run to Sunday, August 8. Amongst those include the likes of Argentina, Brazil, France and Germany. Although the games are still more than two months away from starting, Brazil have today announced their squad for the competition, with Arsenal duo Gabriel and Martinelli being included. But whilst it is great for the duo to be involved and selected to represent their country at such a prestigious competition, it will come as a major blow to Gunners manager Mikel Arteta, as it will rob him of two of his key players during Arsenal's pre-season preparations ahead of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign starting on August 14. But if Arsenal were to stand in Martinelli's way of travelling to Japan with his international teammates it would be a decision he would be less than impressed with. That is because the Arsenal youngster admitted back in March last year, before the Olympics were cancelled, that he was determined to represent his country. "I am Brazilian and my dream, of course, is to play for Brazil," Martinelli told DAZN Brazil last year.
