PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Chelsea have rarely had enough time on the training pitches at Cobham this season in order to work on things like tactics or being able to bed in their expensive new recruits. But they have been able to do just that over the past fortnight as there has been a rare gap in the schedule for the Blues after their hectic start to the season. Coming the Premier League, Carabao Cup and the Champions League fixtures to start a season that began in mid-September instead of mid-August, the Blues had been playing a game, on average, every 4.6 days over four months. Prior to the Blues’ defeat to Manchester City on January 3, Chelsea had only had one free midweek all season, and that came after the opening match of the campaign against Brighton. Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham referred to it as well, saying: “We have hardly had any time to train together and to work out how each other play so we’re just taking every day as it comes at the moment,” in an interview with Chelsea's official website last week. I’m starting to understand them more and they’re starting to understand me more so hopefully we drive each other and be the best we can be.” Questions were being asked about the form of Bundesliga imports Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, who were both struggling in front of goal and having an impact on the team. They both ended their 13-game and 15-game barren runs with a goal each in the 4-0 FA Cup win against Morecambe. The Blues had six days of training to prepare for that game and they would have had nearly the same again to prepare for the west London derby with Fulham on Saturday, with Chelsea handed an extra day of training after the match was pushed back from its original 8pm slot on Friday. Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Lampard said: “I know the rules in football, no matter what squad you have, particularly with young or new players in the squad is that you need time to work. “One of the huge plusses when I reflect on last season was that we had that and even with a young and imbalance squad we had that long pre-season where we could work. Moments in the season where we could work and I saw a lot of great things. “Earlier in the season, we had a lot of great things coming through and then a tough patch but those two weeks have given us a chance to focus on the basics of our game, what we are and how we want to play and I just want to see those things come through.

The French World Cup winner had picked up a hamstring injury which ruled him out of the FA Cup tie but he is due to return to training this weekend and should be available for selection to face former side Leicester on Tuesday. Reece James and Andreas Christensen are both available for selection having recovered from injury. James has been sidelined for the last three games with knee and hamstring issues while Christensen hasn’t featured for Lampard since playing 90 minutes against Aston Villa.
