The Hammers vice-captain was understandably in an excellent mood the day after West Ham defeated London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on Sunday. Goals from Michail Antonio and Jesse Lingard sealed the impressive victory and lifted the Hammers to fourth in the table. Rice, who once again started alongside Soucek in the heart of West Ham's midfield, was in no mood to mood to play down how good this current West Ham team is - and reserved special praise for the Czech Republic midfielder. "This is the best team I have been a part of in the four years I have been in the team," Rice told talkSPORT on Monday morning. The mentality has just changed completely. "I think you can see that on the pitch we are fighting for each other giving 100% and however the result is going to go we know we are coming off that pitch and we have given everything. "We go out there and we don’t fear anybody I think that maybe the West Ham of last season would’ve caved in in that second half and conceded goals. But now it is completely different and we won’t cave into anyone, we can score goals at the attacking end of the picture as well so long may that continue for us." "Pablo said to Jesse [Lingard] right if we score you do that [the flute], I’m on the guitar and I ended up on the drums. "So we literally just came up with it before the game and we were just having a bit of a giggle about it and luckily enough Jesse scored and it came off, although my drumming needs work I think! I’ve been turned into a meme overnight." Rice returned to the topic of his midfield partner Soucek and was effusive in his praise for the Czech international, along with Vladimir Coufal.

"He [Soucek] is so good, I played against him against the Czech Republic for England and I knew then it was going to be a big game and now to have him next to me is when you realise how much he actually does: He runs, he is strong, he is athletic, good in the air and he gets in the box. He does everything you want a midfielder to do."
