PremierLeague-News.Com - Our Arsenal writers select who they would pick for the Gunners game against Palace on Thursday
PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Arsenal will be looking to make it five wins in a row when they take on Crystal Palace at the Emirates in the Premier League on Thursday. The Gunners needed extra time to get past Newcastle in the FA Cup on Saturday but after heavy rotation, Mikel Arteta is expected to revert to many of the names that have done so well for him in recent weeks. Palace are not in the best of form, but will take heart from the fact that they are unbeaten in their four against Arsenal. Arteta has already said that he expects the Eagles to provide a stern test. "They are a really compact and organised team and you know what you're going to expect. "They have players with a big individual talent that just need moments to win games, to create actions that can unbalance the game so we have to be very careful with that." So with all that in mind who will the Gunners boss pick for the game. Here football.london's Arsenal writer's chose who they'd select. Kaya Kaynak, Arsenal Reporter There weren't many players who did their chances of getting into the Premier League team much good with an underwhelming display against Newcastle in the FA Cup. If anything the fact that substitutes like Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette played so well just cemented their status as first team regulars right now. David Luiz did have a good game on Saturday to be fair to him, but after Rob Holding signed his contract extension this week I expect him to celebrate it with a start. Pablo Mari has been excellent alongside Rob Holding in recent games for Arsenal. Alongside him Mikel Arteta faces a tough choice between Gabriel and Pablo Mari after the Brazilian's return following COVID. The shirt is Mari's to lose at the minute so I'd play him again. Then there is the question of whether to start Thomas Partey or not. The Ghanaian wasn't even involved against Newcastle, but after a few extra training sessions I'd play him from the off if he's fit as he is clearly better than anyone else the Gunners have in central midfield. The news about Gabriel Martinelli's injury is fantastic, but there is no need to rush him back for this one.

Who is Enock Mwepu? The Bissouma alternative who can be Thomas Partey's dream partner at Arsenal Gabriel is back in the squad after he tested positive for coronavirus while Rob Holding and Pablo Mari have created an impressive partnership alongside eachother in recent games. Arteta also has David Luiz available but I'd expect him to stick with the trusted partnership of Holding and Mari for this one, with Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney continuing in the wing-back positions. Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny are usually trusted in midfield but Dani Ceballos could be introduced if Arteta decides to rest one of the experienced central midfielders.
