PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Sunderland will go into the final weekend of the regular League One season just one point behind third-placed Blackpool after the final midweek fixtures. While the Black Cat s have already booked a place in the play-offs, rivals Blackpool and Lincoln played their games in hand, with contrasting fortunes. Lincoln, who could have still been in contention for an automatic promotion spot but for a controversial late penalty against Peterborough at the weekend, crashed to a 3-1 defeat to Charlton. But Blackpool edged up to third place following a 2-0 home win over Doncaster. An Ellis Simms double gave Blackpool the points, taking them above Sunderland with one more game remaining. It means the Black Cats can still finish third - thereby lining up a play-off semi-final with the sixth-placed side - if they beat Northampton on Sunday and Blackpool fail to win at home to bottom side Bristol Rovers. Who lands the final play-off spot is very much up in the air, however, with Charlton keeping their hopes alive with that win over Lincoln.

. Jayden Stockley opened the scoring for Charlton just after the break, with Ryan Inniss and Chuks Aneke adding to Lincoln's woes. Harry Anderson's late goal was a mere consolation for Michael Appleton's side. The Imps remain level on points with Sunderland but have an inferior goal difference, and host AFC Wimbledon on the final day. Sunderland are guaranteed to finish no lower than fifth but will be looking to build on that win over Plymouth when they face the Cobblers at the Stadium of Light to build some momentum for the play-offs. Elsewhere, Ipswich drew 0-0 with Shrewsbury Town at Portman Road.
