PremierLeague-News.Com - Loungers should be locked up says travel expert, after Brits filmed rushing to pool at 5am to reserve a place they might not even use
PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Holidaymakers enjoying a break in Majorca have been caught on camera as they rush to reserve a place by the pool as early as 5am as sunbed wars grip the Spanish island. But now calls have been made for hotels to outlaw the sunbed scramble as it was revealed that some guests don't even use their reserved loungers for much of the time. Alexandra Smith, who runs the Mallorca Under The Sun YouTube channel and website and has lived on Majorca since 2005, has demanded that something is done by hoteliers to stop the dawn dash that takes place at hotels on the Balearic island, saying it discriminates against elderly and disabled guests who have paid the same price for their holidays but routinely aren't able to get a coveted place by the pool. The travel expert posted: "After recent conversations with holidaymakers and from a poll run on my YouTube channel and Facebook group, the sunbed wars in Majorca rage on. And what’s more, many of the hotels aren’t doing anything about the problem. In recent days, I have spoken to holidaymakers visiting the island and I’m amazed to find out that the early morning dash for hotel sun loungers still takes place.

It seems incredibly unfair for guests to pay the same yet are unable to get a sunbed because they are unable to run fast enough in the pre-breakfast sunbed scrum. By allowing the sun lounger race in the morning obviously discriminates against the elderly or disabled guests and I would love to know if any hotel takes this into account. I first experienced sunbed wars when on holiday in the 1980s and I’m amazed that hotels on the island cannot find a solution to this problem almost 40 years later." There are even reports of the fight to get the best place at the pool turning violent, with Alexandra telling of a friend, a former holiday rep, who was threatened by a guest for removing the towels from block-booked sunbeds that weren’t being used in a four star hotel on the island. Alexandra is calling for hotel management to lock the sunbeds away at night and keep them locked away until after breakfast.
