PremierLeague-News.Com - Good Morning Britain host Piers took on Matt Hancock over last year's shortage of PPE as tensions boiled over on the show
PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Tensions boiled over on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain as Piers Morgan branded Matt Hancock 'patronising' and hit out at him for the Government's 'woeful handling' of the coronavirus pandemic. The Health Secretary appeared on the ITV daytime show, a day after Vaccine Minister, Nadhim Zahawi, faced questions on a severe shortage of PPE for health workers across the country last year and findings that Hancock being acted unlawfully when his department did not reveal details of contracts it had signed during the early stages of the pandemic. Asked if there was indeed a national shortage of PPE last year, Hancock told Piers and co-host Susanna Rei d: "There were shortages locally; there wasn't a national shortage because of the work my team did and I back them 100%." The Health Secretary replied: "I sound so exasperated for two reasons. 1. I think we should be on this programme thanking my team; they work so hard." In disbelief at what he was hearing, an increasingly annoyed Piers fired back: "Really? Really? Let's just analyse that shall we." As Hancock tried to give a second reason, Piers fumed: "I'm sorry if you want to play that game with us.....you and your team have resided over a woeful handling of the pandemic that has led to us having the worst death toll in Europe - 130,000 people dead - so I'm sorry if my first thought when you come on here is not to thank you and your team for your brilliant handling of the pandemic, as I don't think 130,000 deaths shows that you've handled it well.

. I say can I answer the question and you say 'no' so what's the point in coming in?" Refusing to back down, Piers then told him: "Because you said there wasn't a national shortage and then you saw pictures of health workers in bin liners and said it shows there was a shortage. "There's inconsistency there." Also standing firm on his stance, Hancock answered: "No, no, it's totally obvious all all your readers...er watchers, will know what I'm saying. "Yes there were individual problems and I know that. That's what the team were sorting."
Piers hit back: "It's called a shortage and it was happening in very large numbers of parts of the country. I call that a national shortage." Determined to get his point across, Hancock replied: "I'll just keep finishing the answers," but a frustrated Piers ranted: "Don't be so patronising Health Secretary! "When you give a disingenuous answer we call you out on it, you know that."
