PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Bosses at John Lewis are considering closing up to eight of the department store chain's remaining branches, according to reports. Older shops are said to be most at risk of shutting their doors permanently. It comes on top of eight store closures announced by the worker-owned group last July, leading to 1,300 job losses. The firm, which also owns supermarket chain Waitrose, is also in the process of cutting a further 1,500 head office jobs. According to the Sunday Times, the final number of closures is yet to be decided and will depend on negotiations with landlords. In some cases John Lewis could open a smaller branch nearby. John Lewis currently has 42 stores. It comes after the business announced a £635million loss in 2020, with the pandemic devastating sales.
