Last year, a planning application was lodged with Sunderland City Council for land adjacent to the Beehive public house, which sits off a roundabout connecting Blind Lane and Coaley Lane in the Houghton ward. According to planning documents, the site was previously granted outline planning consent for five detached dwellings, although this was never brought forward. New plans approved by the council’s planning department on Tuesday, May 11 2021 include outline permission for two detached homes on the same site.
