PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Barclays has announced changes for current account holders which are set to come into effect this summer. Changes by the banking giant mean that cashback will be axed for current account holders. Barclays says it will also terminate Blue Reward memberships for those that have not signed in or registered for online banking by August 3. The lender said it has updated the terms and conditions of the Blue Rewards scheme, which offers discounts on the high street – for £4 a month, reports the Mirror. However it’s a double blow for customers as Barclays has also warned it’s scrapping cashback across the board on June 22 - meaning Blue Rewards will be one of the only ways to get money off when you spend cash. Whether you choose to keep Blue Rewards will all depend on whether you can afford the £4 a month fee. Members on the scheme earn at least £7 a month, providing they pay in at least £800 every 30 days and have two direct debits set up. It also offers extra perks for mortgage customers.

. However, those members who've never viewed or accessed their virtual wallet because they didn't sign up to online or app banking must now do so before 3 August or their Rewards membership may be cancelled. If your membership is cancelled, your Rewards earnings will either be transferred automatically into your linked Barclays current account or you'll be sent a cheque in the post. You'll also be given two month's notice of this happening. In terms of money back, Barclays is axing its cashback scheme on purchases from June 22 for both regular current account customers and Blue Rewards members. Current incentives include money off at high street chain such as supermarkets and B&Q – all of which are set to end. A spokesperson for Barclays said: "In view of the fact you need online banking or our app to manage your rewards wallet, we’ve decided to update our terms and conditions so that going forward, you will need to be registered with either online banking or the Barclays app in order to be eligible for Blue Rewards. "A very small number of customers [will be affected] and we have support in place through our dedicated website or the Barclays Digital Eagles to help them register for either online banking or the Barclays app, which is free and straightforward."
