Boris Johnson has said that he hopes the roadmap is 'irreversible', meaning this would be the last time the nation will be plunged into a lockdown. The four steps begin with the reopening of schools, before allowing businesses such as non-essential retail, restaurants and pubs, and hairdressers to open at latest dates. There will be five week windows between each of the four steps, which will be driven by data rather than dates. If all goes according to plan, social contact restrictions could end no earlier than June 21, which would allow nightclubs to reopen.
