The borough recorded a rate of 61.6 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending April 28, according to the latest data from Public Health England. Coronavirus infection rates have gone up in five boroughs across the region, but have fallen in the other five areas . The lowest infection rate is in Wigan, where the rate is 19.2 cases per 100,000 people. Hyndburn, in Lancashire, currently has the highest coronavirus infection rate in England, with 98 confirmed cases during the same period and an infection rate of 120.9.
