In the past year London has been changed utterly by the coronavirus pandemic, which has set up camp in the city and across the world like the most terrible and impertinent of pigeons. We've learnt to socialise differently, prioritise things we would never have assumed were important, and been forced to hide away for the greater good. As restrictions continue to relax this month, there is a faint glimmer of hope that London will soon return to the shining metropolis it once was. When things are finally back to normal, these are the weird and wonderful London things we hope will return. A sit down curry along Brick Lane Take us back! (Image: Darren Pepe,MyLondon) Sloping down to Brick Lane with a carrier bag full of cheap supermarket lager and unloading with a fantastic curry sounds like heaven right now. And although many Brick Lane curry houses have been offering takeaway and outside service, it's not quite the same ambience as inside. May 17 can't come soon enough. Tate Lates On a similar theme, the absence of late nights at the Tate Gallery has been keenly felt by London's arty crowd. What's more peaceful than strolling a museum at night, slightly tipsy from the pub beforehand. Not much I can think of. Watching the naked bike rides Nobody quite knows the appeal for those riding, but London's naked bike parade is always a highlight of the year. The annual cheeky event, last took place in 2019 and sees lots and lots of nude cyclists doing a route around the streets of London. Across the globe these events happen each year with the riders doing a peaceful protest against car culture with participants stripping off to show a cyclist’s vulnerability on the roads.
