The Liberty Hall, a former public toilet which sits at the Southern end of Clapton Common park in Upper Clapton, Hackney, was acquired by local community group. Recognising that neighbours in the area didn't know each other, a group of locals - including the local parish priest - founded Clapton Commons in 2013.

"The best coffee in Hackney in a fantastic new location - Liberty Hall, where a disused toilet block has been brought back to life," said one review. "BEST coffee I've had in YEARS," said someone else, as other customers praised the 'community vibe that really makes the area'.
