. The work will take place between Queen's Circus and Wandsworth Town Centre, and will connect to an existing section delivered last year between Chelsea Bridge and Lambeth Bridge in central London. The changes are part of the London transport provider's emergency response to the coronavirus pandemic, as they work to improve infrastructure across the capital to give Londoners more opportunities to walk and cycle safely. According to TfL, the new route will make cycling safer and easier for thousands of people travelling between Wandsworth Town Centre and Chelsea Bridge and beyond. There is currently no cycle path along the busy corridor, which TfL says leaves cyclists vulnerable to collisions with cars. Their data found 64 collisions between November 2016 and November 2019 involving cyclists, with 11 people seriously injured.
